Buses diverted as Bristol swing bridge to close for 11 days

A busy Bristol swing bridge is to close next week for essential maintenance.

The Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge will be closed to buses from January 11-22 so routine maintenance can be carried out on the bridge and bus guideway. It will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.

A diversion will be in place for the m2 MetroBus service, with the Ashton Vale, Ashton Gate and Cumberland Basin bus stops closed in both directions.

The inbound SS Great Britain and Wapping Wharf bus stops are open as normal but they will not be served by the m2 service as it is unable to serve them in an inbound direction due to the ongoing works on Cumberland Road.

The service will be diverted to use Coronation Road for inbound journeys into the city centre, and Cumberland Road for outbound journeys back out to the Long Ashton Park & Ride.
