Bus windows smashed by 'mindless vandals' during late night attack

Vandals attacked a bus late at night leaving broken glass strewn across its seats.

Two windows are the back of the bus were smashed as the bus made its way along the Leigh Guided Busway, near Cooling Lane in Tyldesley, at around 10.40pm on Sunday night.

The driver and passengers were passing through a 'dark and lonely' section of the route when the surprise attack took place the Manchester Evening News has been told.

A spokesperson for First Manchester said: “One of our buses was vandalised while travelling on the Guideway late on Sunday evening (19 April).

"No passengers or the driver were hurt."

The bus company has called the attack 'mindless vandalism' and are looking into the incident.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers, drivers and the public are our number one priority.

"This is mindless vandalism and we will be reviewing CCTV footage from on-board cameras to see if this can assist any police investigation.

“Our driver followed the correct procedure and the bus was returned to depot for repair.”
