A yellow weather warning for snow, sleet and ice is still in place across the region as the Met Office predicts snowfall until 12pm today (Friday).
Many areas could see up to two hours of snow with a risk of temporary slushy accumulations above 100-150m with the Met Office expecting travel delays on the roads or cancelled rail and air travel.
The Met Office say there could also be a small chance of power cuts occurring and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected and they predict a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.
They have also warned people to take care when out and about due to the probability of icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
