Bus service cut for third time after attacks by mindless vandals

A West Lothian bus service will not run in the evenings for a third time thanks to attacks by thoughtless vandals.

The Service X25 will now only operate as far as Blackridge Railway Station after 4pm for the rest of this week after windows were smashed on buses.

A First Scotland East spokesperson said: “Due to vandalism, the X25 service will start/end at Blackridge Rail Station after 4pm for the rest of the week.

“We suffered another two broken windows at Blackridge on Monday night and are therefore staying out of the village for the rest of the week.

“We’re in regular contact with the police about the situation.”

It’s the third time Lothian Bus bosses has been forced to suspend the service at night due to vandalism in March.

We also reported in October that reducing the service was a “last resort” to protect staff and passengers and members of the public members were urged to contact police if they saw anti-social behaviour directed at the buses.

But just weeks after on November 26, vandals struck again as yobs threw stones and smashed windows.

West Lothian police officers posted on their Facebook page: “It goes without saying that this is incredibly dangerous for drivers, passengers and risks a serious accident.”
