Fauldhouse crash: Bus roof ripped off after smashing into railway bridge on Shotts Road

A bus roof was ripped off after it smashed into a railway bridge in West Lothian.

The double decker Lothian Country vehicle has been ripped apart by the collision, which happened on Shotts Road in Fauldhouse at around 11.15am today (Tuesday).

There were no passengers on the bus at the time and the driver is uninjured.

Police and other emergency services are currently on the scene with the road closed at Springhill and Leadloch Road.

Engineers have been called out to examine the extent to the damage caused to the bridge.

A spokesperson for Lothian Country said: “We can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in an incident earlier today in the Fauldhouse area and we are fully assisting Police Scotland with their enquiries.”

Network Rail took to social media to say that 20mph speed restrictions will be in place on the lines nearby as the bus roof remains attached to the railway bridge.

They add that it "is at risk of falling if disturbed by vibration".
