Bus passenger slams lager-drinking 'covidiots' gathering outside Edinburgh pub in worst-hit area

A frustrated commuter has branded a crowd gathering outside a pub in Edinburgh for pints, 'covidiots'.

The bus passenger snapped a picture of queuing outside The Dog House on Clerk Street in Newington, which is currently the worst hit area in Edinburgh for Covid cases.

The area has registered 21 cases of coronavirus in the last seven days, which is a higher number of cases than any other part of the capital.

Yesterday, photos emerged of a large group of students gathering and 'drinking lagers' from the pub allegedly selling the pints.

The frustrated bus passenger hit out at the pint drinking revellers, penning: "Edinburgh selling takeaway pints of lager, level three restrictions broken every day this week.

"When is something going to be done about this?"

Edinburgh has currently been placed under tier three restrictions and the guidance from the Scottish Government states that 'takeaways can still operate as normal', but also that 'alcoholic drinks cannot be served.'

Edinburgh City Council states that pubs can only 'offer home deliveries of alcohol'.

Edinburgh Live has reached out to the Dog House in Newington for comment.
