Bus operator changes timetable for locals to get to Wishaw Covid vaccine centre

A bus operator has announced changes to routes around Wishaw providing better links to help locals get vaccinated against coronavirus.

From Monday, February 8, every second journey on JMB Travel’s 41 and 56 services will serve Belhaven Road and Alexander Street, meaning that buses will stop at the coronavirus vaccination hub at Wishaw Sports Centre.

To distinguish journeys running via this route, buses will display a ‘V’ after the service number.

This will provide links to the hub from Allanton, Bonkle, Carluke, Craigneuk, Hamilton, Lanark, Motherwell, Muirhouse, Newmains and North Motherwell.

Max Cairns, commercial manager at JMB Travel said: “Being a local, socially responsible company, we are delighted to be amending our services to help the national vaccination effort and offer clean and safe public transport links for communities across Lanarkshire to receive their coronavirus vaccine.”

“We contacted NHS Lanarkshire for information on the vaccine hubs and our buses already pass by those in Carluke, Lanark, Motherwell and Shotts.

“When we realised that the Wishaw hub was quite far from bus routes, we knew we must do something to ensure people could reach this and we have very quickly put plans in place to ensure this happens.”

Full information on the amended services are available on the company’s website www.jmbtravel.co.uk.
