Bus firm trentbarton launches 16 new Covid-secure eco-friendly buses

A bus company is promising to "improve the air we breathe" after launching 16 new Covid-secure, eco-friendly buses.

The new vehicles, brought onto the road by travel firm trentbarton, are ultra-low emission and will serve the rainbow one line between Nottingham, Kimberley, Eastwood, Heanor and Alfreton.

It comes as part of the company's £2.6 million investment into eco-friendly travel, with the new 'Enviro200' buses emitting less nitrogen than new cars.

The buses also use start-stop technology to further reduce emissions and boast LED lighting, "superfast" WiFi and both USB and wireless charging for smartphones.

The company is also enforcing Covid-secure guidance on all 16 buses, with hand sanitiser on-board, screens for drivers and overnight deep-cleaning.

Jeff Counsell, managing director at trentbarton, says the buses will bring "greater style" for passengers

He said: “Rainbow one is already hugely valued by its customers who use it to get to work, to school, to shop and have fun.

"Now they can travel in even greater style aboard these super new buses.

"Trentbarton is constantly improving the customer experience, from the quality of the onboard comforts to improved journey times and punctuality.

"And the more people travel on our greener buses, the more we’ll all help improve the air we all breathe.

"Making our buses Covid-secure is the number one priority and everyone can be reassured that travelling on rainbow one, as on all our services, is a safe, comfortable and value for money way to get around."

The buses will also have ticketing technology for contactless payments, the new 'mango' app, Apple and Android Pay, and concession passes.

Cash can also be used on-board.
