Bus driver taken to hospital after crash near Walton police station

A three-vehicle collision took place close to Walton police station.

It involved a single-decker bus and a white tipper truck, with a van also being damaged.

A large number of police vehicles arrived at the scene underneath the railway bridge in Walton Lane shortly before 3pm today.

Fire service and ambulance crews also attended, and the bus driver needed to be removed from the bus.

The bus driver was taken to hospital, while a passenger on board received minor injuries, said police.

The incident led to a number of road closures in the immediate vicinity of the scene.

At this stage it is not known what caused the collision.

It is believed a Stagecoach bus was involved. The company was approached for comment.
