Bus driver launches foul-mouthed rant at pupils 'while letting bus coast down hill'

Parents have told of their shock and frustration at a school bus company after video emerged of a school bus driver allegedly swearing at their children while letting the bus coast down a hill.

The driver can be heard in the footage shouting 'I don't give a s*** if you report me.'

He continued in the video: "One of you lot go flying through that f****** windscreen and it's me that does jail time.

"No sit down, talk, do whatever the f*** you want - just wind your necks in."

In response to the video, bus company Safford's say that badly-behaved kids drove the driver to it, that the bus never moved, and that the kids were posing a safety risk by jumping around the vehicle.

The incident happened on the bus back to Potten from Cambourne Village College, in Cambourne  on July 1.

According to parents whose children were on the bus, the driver slammed on the brakes sending kids 'flying'.

The driver then reportedly flung open his cab door and stormed down the central aisle before shouting and swearing at the children, most of whom were aged between 11 and 14.

However, the driver had allegedly forgotten to apply the handbrake and as the bus was stopped on a hill, the vehicle began to coast down the road with no one at the wheel.

Parents then say the driver dashed back to the front of the bus and, after struggling with the cab door, managed to stop the vehicle. They say it moved around 20 feet.

But this wasn't the end. Parents say the driver then went back into the central aisle and let out another tirade of abuse at the bus' occupants, which is shown in the video above.

Parents, who have to pay around £800 a year for their kids to use the bus, said that 'kids will be kids' but added that their children didn't see anyone behaving too badly.

A spokeswoman for the company said that it was the behaviour of kids on that bus that made their driver stop.

She said that the children had been moving around on the bus, and that the noise 'had been so loud the driver couldn't hear the engine'.

She also told Cambridgeshire Live that the company had complained to the school and were looking into getting an escort on the bus to accompany the driver and deal with the children.

She added that recently a driver had previously had a metal object thrown at him and this incident was just one of a number of problems their drivers had with this particular bus route.

Cambourne Village College say they are aware of the incident, and that a number of its students have been reprimanded because of the behavior on the bus that day.

They also said that the school did not condone the actions of the driver, calling him unprofessional.

They added that after talking to the bus company that driver would not be working that bus route again.
