Bus driver handed fixed penalty notice after going through red light before crash with van

A bus driver has been given a fixed penalty notice after a city centre crash hospitalised a woman.

It involved a Trentbarton bus and a van and left two people injured, with one woman in hospital.

The crash was in Greyfriar Gate, close to Maid Marian Way,  at around 1pm on Tuesday, July 9.

A woman involved in the crash was taken to Queen's Medical Centre  with minor injuries, police confirmed.

The driver of the van, a man, was treated at the scene, also for minor injuries.

The bus involved was a Trentbarton Mainline service.

Trentbarton said they were investigating the acident.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “The bus driver was issued with a fixed penalty notice for travelling through a red light.

"The investigation is now complete.”
