Bus driver adopts homeless dog after it chases vehicle and tries to jump aboard

A kind-hearted bus driver adopted a stray dog - after it was filmed desperately chasing his vehicle and trying to hop on board.

Adorable footage shows the pooch race after the bus after it pulls away in Quezon City in the Philippines.

And the playful mongrel follows the passenger vehicle some distance.

She even puts her paws on the steps and attempts to join the passengers.

Eventually, the driver is seen to stop the motor and scoop up the dog.

He has since adopted her and is looking after her in his loving home in Quezon City.

"The dog really wanted to join us. She tried six times to get inside the jeepney," Jaypee Barcelinia, a passenger, said.

"The driver kept going. He didn't want to let her in because he thought she might bite the passengers.

"Even after the journey finished the dog didn't want to leave.

"The driver is now keeping her and taking care of her."

But the driver since told local press he was reluctant because he was afraid the dog might bite a passenger.

Stray dogs in the Philippines can be feral and pose serious health risks to humans, including chances of rabies and other infection.

It comes after heartbreaking footage taken in Arizona, US, captured a dog desperately try to follow its owner after being tied up .

CCTV shows how the animal tries to break free from its leash after being left at the Hot Springs Animal Shelter.

Police say the woman left a note beside the dog but later returned with food and water for the unwanted pet.

"People get desperate at certain times," a police officer told local media.
