Bus crashes after mounting pavement in Glasgow city centre

A bus veered off the road and crashed in Glasgow city centre last night.

The incident occurred at the junction of Renfield Street and Bath Street just after 9pm.

Photos from the scene show the bus, a First Glasgow number 7 service travelling to Rutherglen, having mounted the pavement outside the Medica Skin beauty salon on Renfield Street.

Passengers are also shown standing outside the bus with the driver appearing to be using their mobile phone.

Police confirm they attended the crash and that no-one was injured in the incident.

The bus was removed from the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police received a report of a bus crash on Renfield Street in Glasgow city centre around 9:15pm last night. There are no reports of an injures and the bus was removed."

A spokesperson for First Bus said: “We can confirm that one of our vehicles has been involved in a collision on Sunday evening in Glasgow City Centre. There have been no injuries as a result of this and we are working with the relevant authorities to investigate the incident further.”
