Bus crash near Galashiels station as coach smashes on to railway line

A bus has crashed on to the railway line near Galashiels Station in the Borders.

Pictures from the scene show the single deck coach operated by Peter Hogg lying next to the tracks.

Police and ambulance services are on the scene but there is no information about injuries or how many people were on the bus when it crashed.

Photos show the emergency door at the back of the vehicle lying open.

The bus appears to be lying in a tipped position but hasn't flipped completely on to its side..

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Galashiels shortly before 8.50pm this evening following reports of a vehicle colliding on to the railway line.

"The driver was thankfully uninjured and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances behind the incident."
