Bus company suspends all services as driver is admitted to hospital with Covid-19 symptoms

A Nottingham bus company has suspended all services after one of its drivers was admitted to hospital with coronavirus symptoms.

The announcement from CT4N comes just two weeks after another of the firm's drivers died from Covid-19.

Andy Howe drove the Medilink service which took NHS workers to hospital.

He started to develop a cold and body aches on Friday, March 20, and decided to self-isolate after calling 111.

His condition rapidly deteriorated on March 26 when his temperature spiked and he struggled to breathe.

He died the same day.

Paying tribute to his partner, Kevin Whelan said: "He had beautiful blue eyes - you could get lost in them.

"His wit and charm, he would give you the shirt off his back, he was such a kind and loving person.

"He had a warm and bubbly personality - he could talk the hind legs off a donkey."

CT4N - the operating arm of Nottingham Community Transport - announced all of its services will not operate today (Saturday, April 11).

This includes Locallink services L1, L2, L4, L9 & L14, CT4N service 18, East Midlands Gateway Shuttle and Derbyshire County Council services 14 & 29.

Yesterday evening (April 10), the company received notification that one of its drivers was admitted to hospital with suspected Covid-19 symptoms.

Following this, the management team decided to suspend operations on a precautionary basis.

A statement from CT4N said: "Whilst we have been rigorously following government health and safety advice, a service suspension will provide the time to further review health and safety arrangements and consult with staff and others."
