Bury FC issue Twitter statement after suffering EFL expulsion

Bury FC have issued their first comment since the news of their EFL expulsion broke on Tuesday evening, which saw the Shakers removed from League One.

A last-minute takeover deal with C&N Sporting Risk collapsed with just over an hour to go before Tuesday's 5pm deadline, leaving supporters in disarray as the club was set for explusion.

The club issued a statement after that news broke urging supporters not to gain access to their Gigg Lane stadium without authorisation but offered no update last evening when the EFL confirmed they had been ejected from the league.

However, a short message was issued on Wednesday afternoon by the club on social media which, although brief, confirmed that further updates and statements will follow.

"The club are taking stock of recent developments and will update supporters with regards to season ticket refunds as soon as we can, please give us time to take all this in..."

A busy day for Bury on Tuesday saw hundreds of volunteers turn up at Gigg Lane to help prepare for this weekend's scheduled League One match against Doncaster Rovers, which will sadly no longer take place.
