Bury café hit with one-star food hygiene rating

A Bury café has been hit with a one-star food hygiene.

The Met Bar, in Bury New Road, Whitefield, was given a rating of one star out of five following its latest inspection on February 12.

The score, given by Bury Council , means “major improvement necessary".

In the report, owners were told to make improvements to the management of food safety.

This means ensuring a system is in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.

They must also prove that staff know about food safety so that the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.

A spokesman for the business, who refused to give their name, told the M.E.N the poor score came down to not keeping paperwork up to date.

They said: “The only reason is because of the diary not being up to date. We have started doing it now

“They are quite strict.

“It’s quite harsh because it does not reflect on the premises."
