Burton vs Manchester City
EFL Cup semi-final second leg
Venue: Pirelli Stadium
Date: Wednesday, 23 January, 2019
Kick-off: 7:45pm GMT

Manchester City are within two games of defending their EFL Cup trophy as they face what is effectively dead rubber second leg in their semi-final tie against Burton.

City steamrolled League One Burton 9-0 in the first leg, with Gabriel Jesus grabbing four goals to end the semi-final as a contest.

While nobody expects Nigel Clough's side to realistically pull off what would be the greatest sporting comeback of all time, there is still pride left to play for as the Brewers look to round off a superb cup run in style in front of their own fans.

Man City team news and predicted line-up

It is tricky to know how many youth prospects Guardiola will include given that City's Under-21 side are in action in the Checkatrade Trophy just 24 hours before Wednesday's match.

The EFL have refused City's requests to move the game, so it is likely Guardiola will have to field more first-teamers than he would have liked.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Walker, Garcia, Stones, Zinchenko; De Bruyne, Delph, B. Silva; Mahrez, Jesus, Foden

Score prediction: Burton 1-4 Man City

The first-leg scoreline laid bare the gap between the two sides, but City are unlikely to run up such a scoreline again.

The Premier League champions should win comfortably, but Burton will be desperate to add something to take the edge off the aggregate tally.
