Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough confirms interest in Leeds United forward following trial match

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has confirmed that his side are looking into the availability of Leeds United's Oliver Sarkic.

The forward, who is under contract at Elland Road until next summer, was given permission by the Whites to play for Albion in their pre-season win at Chesterfield on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old completed 58 minutes in the Brewers 5-2 win, with Clough confirming afterwards that Albion would be talking to the Montenegro under-21 international about his current situation.

"I'm not sure yet," Clough told DerbyshireLive afterwards.

"He (Sarkic) has got a couple of offers from abroad, I think, so I'm just going to have a chat with him now.

"His representative put us on to him, so we'll see what his situation is.

"He's played very little football so far this pre-season, and that was the only thing - he's just a bit short, fitness wise.

"But with us being so short on bodies, we're just going to check out the situation.

"He'd be extra to what we are already looking at.

"I told you on Tuesday that we had a loan lined up - but with David Templeton getting injured, we had to change to other priorities, which we have done.

"We've got an okay on one which should be Tuesday next week. Sarkic will be extra to that if we can."
