Burst water pipe causes 'significant flooding' in Livingston, with road blocked

A burst water main in Livingston has led to significant flooding, with a road into the town cut off.

A large pool of water spread over Cousland Road on Sunday, with police forced to put diversions in place.

Residents living nearby have gone without water for much of the day.

Scottish Water say they are aware of the issue and are working to repair the pipe.

However they posted on social media saying their engineers had encountered "complications" which meant customers were still without supply on Sunday afternoon.

They said: "We have operatives on site investigating no waters/poor pressures to the EH53 Pumpherson & EH54 Livingston areas.

"We'll give you more info as soon as we can."

West Lothian police tweeted that officers were at the scene.

They said: "Road closures being implemented on Cousland Rd & the A899 Livingston Rd on/off slip due to significant flooding. Follow @scottish_water for updates."
