Burst water main in West Lothian leaves residents without supply for hours

People in parts of West Lothian were in for an unwelcome surprise when they went for their morning shower earlier.

As a burst water main has resulted in no running supply for some residents in the EH48 area.

Scottish Water said at around 6.30am that a problem in the Torphicen area, just north of Bathgate, was causing an issue for people in the area.

In a statement on their website they said that "their operatives would be on-site shortly to begin emergency repairs".

They added: "We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing customers and will provide a further update as soon as more information becomes available."

Vulnerable people were being supplied with bottled water, with Scottish Water saying the issue was expected to last until around 10.30am.
