A burst water main at the intersection of Munibung and Macquarie roads at Cardiff flooded the immediate area early Saturday morning, and crews remain the scene where repairs are in progress.
The intersection was partially re-opened to traffic around 1.15pm, though diversions remained in place as Hunter Water and emergency crews worked to isolate and repair a 500mm water main that ruptured under the roadway.
Firefighters attached to NSW Fire and Rescue at Cardiff arrived on scene shortly after the burst was discovered, but said that there was no damage sustained to any of the surrounding businesses or buildings.
Water supply has bee restored to affected Hunter Water customers at Cardiff, Macquarie Hills, and surrounding suburbs, a spokesperson for the organisation has said.
