Burnley vs Tottenham prediction: Dele Alli backed to score first at Turf Moor

Tottenham will be desperate to get back to winning ways after disappointment in all competitions in the last few weeks.

Back-to-back defeats in the league, losing at home to RB Leipzig and knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties against Norwich City is not the sort of form you would expect from last year's Champions League finalists.

They may have a chance to claw back their Champions League status this season in the second-leg but they have a tough task going to Turf Moor against an in-form Burnley.

A good run of results have put the hosts up to 9th in the Premier League and just two points behind their visitors this weekend.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last six matches in Premier League - four wins and two draws - conceding just two goals in this run and never more than once in a match.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have lost their last two Premier League, conceding two or more goals in each defeat - they last suffered three consecutive losses back in November 2012 when Andre Villas-Boas was the manager.

Rob Guest spoke to thepools.com ahead of the match:

Recommended bets:

  • Correct score 1-1 - 5/1
  • Dele Alli to score first - 11/2

Win, lose or draw?

I'm going to say a draw. Spurs really need to stop this slump having lost their last four games but it will be incredibly tough at Burnley.

Sean Dyche's team are in good form at the minute and I think their impressive run will continue with another point on the board. 1-1 (5/1) .

Who's a good bet for 1st scorer?

Dele Alli (11/2) has been playing up top in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min's absence and he is due to a goal.

Who's on the naughty step? (first card)

Serge Aurier will be in for a tough afternoon against Dwight McNeil. The Burnley ace has plenty of pace and his trickery could well draw Aurier into a few fouls.

Who's on pens?

That's a good question as Kane and Son are still out. You would imagine Giovani Lo Celso (15/4 anytime) will want it after scoring in the penalty shootout against Norwich on Wednesday evening, while Eric Dier may step up if he's on the pitch.

Will your team keep a clean sheet?

Given they kept three clean sheets in 24 games under Jose Mourinho, no (1/3). Spurs' defence needs fixing ASAP and they will have their hands full against Burnley's powerful frontmen.
