Burnley vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League result, latest updates and reaction after ninth straight win

Burnley vs Arsenal LIVE

Arsenal successfully opened up an seven-point lead at the Premier League summit as beat Burnley away from home on Saturday afternoon. The Gunners’ superb continued at Turf Moor as they followed up the midweek victory over brighton in the Carabao Cup to notch their ninth successive victory across all competitions in the process.

Mikel Arteta's side have now won 13 of their 15 matches so far this season, and extended their run of games without conceding to seven. All the damage was done in a dominant first half from the visitors as Viktor Gyokeres broke the deadlock following yet another set-piece routine before a Declan Rice header doubled the advantage and ultimately sealed all three points.

The Clarets put up more of a fight in the second half and nearly breached the Gunners’ defence in injury time but Marcus Edwards saw his free-kick hit the woodwork as Scott Parker’s side fell to just their second home loss in the Premier League this season. Follow Burnley vs Arsenal back below with Standard Sport's dedicated match blog, featuring expert analysis from Simon Collings at Turf Moor.

Arsenal preference for Carabao Cup tie

13:35 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Arsenal’s preference is for their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Crystal Palace to take place on December 16, writes Simon Collings.

Talks are underway between stakeholders over a date for the game, which is complicated due to a fixture pile-up.

The Carabao Cup quarter-finals are due to be played on December 16 and 17, but Crystal Palace are already set to host Finnish side KuPS in their final Conference League league phase tie on December 18.

Three dates are being discussed for the quarter-final between Arsenal and Palace, which are December 16, December 23 or Christmas Eve.

Burnley plan to combat Arsenal set-piece threat

13:25 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Scott Parker said his Burnley side are preparing to deal with Arsenal’s set-piece threat, but admitted that the Clarets will have their work cut out for them.

The Gunners are four points clear atop the Premier League table as they visit Turf Moor, and can thank set-piece coach Nicolas Jover for some of that success. Of their 16 league goals this season, eleven have been the product of set plays.

As such, Parker said the Clarets are working on ways to neutralise Arsenal’s aerial threat, but pointed out that the Gunners are still threatening from open play.

"Of course we'll work on that and we'll try to work out how we can best limit their success," he said pre-match. "They're good at them (set-pieces)."

Mikel Arteta reveals hope over triple injury boost

13:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta is hopeful that Arsenal will have Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Noni Madueke back in time for next month’s north London derby against Tottenham.

The trio are all still out injured, but Arteta has confirmed they are recovering well and should be back “very soon”.

Today's trip to Burnley will come too early for them, and it is unlikely they will be ready to face Slavia Prague on Tuesday or Sunderland at the end of next week.

The next international break takes place after that, with Arsenal then hosting Spurs in the first north London derby of the season on November 23.

Predicted Arsenal XI

13:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta made 10 changes for Arsenal’s win over Brighton in midweek and is likely to make a similar number this afternoon.

David Raya will return in goal, with Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori set to be reinstated as the full-backs.

Gabriel will play in the heart of defence, partnered by Cristhian Mosquera if William Saliba is not fit.

Martin Zubimendi was given a full rest on Wednesday, while Declan Rice was a second-half substitute.

In attack, Viktor Gyokeres will lead the line, flanked by Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.

Predicted Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Eze, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyokeres, Trossard.

Arsenal must avoid another November blip

13:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

In the days of Arsene Wenger, it was well known how November was Arsenal’s bogey month, writes Simon Collings.

It was officially the worst month of Wenger’s time in north London, with Arsenal winning just 40 of their 85 Premier League games in November during his reign.

The sense was that, around that time of the season, injuries would begin to pile up and the fixture list became congested.

Arsenal’s form suffered, and it was often the case that a nightmare November threatened to derail their campaign.

Mikel Arteta has managed to stop that slump - winning 15 of his 25 games in November - but it has still proven to be a sticky period.

Burnley vs Arsenal prediction

12:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Arsenal are the form team in the country right now and this is a game they are expected to win. Arteta’s side may not be easy on the eye at present, but it is all about getting points on the board.

With many of their title rivals in action against each other this weekend and next, there’s an opportunity for the Gunners to pull away at the top of the table before the November international break.

Arsenal to win, 2-0.

Burnley team news

12:45 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Burnley will be without Jordan Beyer (hamstring), Zeki Amdouni (knee) and Connor Roberts (knee) for the visit of Arsenal but former Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu is expected to be fit.

Ugochukwu started last weekend's 3-2 win over Wolves but was forced off late on. Though there are no serious concerns about his availability for today.

Arsenal team news: Saliba doubtful

12:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

William Saliba is a doubt after he missed the win over Brighton with a knock sustained in the 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace last Sunday. Summer signing Cristhian Mosquera is on standby to deputise for the centre-back once again.

Gabriel Martinelli will miss out which means Max Dowman - who made history in the Carabao Cup tie - is an option to cover for the Brazilian in the matchday squad.

Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Jesus are Arsenal’s longer-term injury casualties and will play no part at Turf Moor.
