Burnley v Liverpool prediction, look outside the box for a big-priced first scorer

Burnley were beaten by League One Sunderland on Wednesday night. Mind you it was a Burnley starting XI unrecognisable from the one which beat Southampton, held Wolves and were narrowly beaten by Arsenal.

Sean Dyche rested his entire starting XI. He even started Joe Hart. Will that rest and recuperation be enough to keep Jurgen's fully rested Reds at bay?

Paul Gorst follows the Reds home and away and gives your best punting preview of Saturday tea-time's Turf Moor showdown.

BEST BETS

Win, lose or draw?

Turf Moor is always a tricky one for Klopp's Reds, but they have won on their last two visits to Lancashire - even if they haven't been the free-flowing performances many have come to associate with the European champions.

I think Liverpool will maintain their 100 per cent start to the season, just. It won't be pretty - it rarely is at Turf Moor - but this Reds team is made of the right stuff. 2-1 to the visitors. Liverpool are 1/3 to win the match with thepools.com but the 2-1 correct score is a big 15/2 .

Who’s a good bet for first scorer?

Mohamed Salah was electric in the second half against Arsenal and he's already on three for the season. He's 3/1 to open the scoring and 5/6 anytime . Sadio Mane has been in blistering form himself for much of the calendar year and is a slightly longer 10/3 to score first . If you fancy a bit of an outside bet, though, Trent Alexander-Arnold can ping a free-kick and might get a chance to do just that on Saturday evening. He's 16/1 to score first and 11/2 any time .

Who’s on the naughty step?

Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood are two of the more physical centre-forwards in the top flight and emotions could spill over at Turf Moor if they find little change out of Virgil van Dijk. Either way, expect some tough tackling throughout. Over 3.0 bookings in the match is a solid 11/10 shout .

Who’s on pens?

Mohamed Salah is your man here. The Egyptian guided home a beautiful spot-kick against Arsenal last week. It will be a brave man to try and take the ball off him if Liverpool win a penalty at Turf Moor. hence his odds-on any time price.

Will The Reds keep a clean sheet?

Liverpool are yet to keep a clean sheet so far this term and while they had the best defence in the top flight last time out, I expect Burnley to pilfer their goal once more in this tight contest. Both Teams To Score is a near double your money 19/20 .
