Burnley to make Nahki Wells transfer decision next week says boss

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed the growing interest in Nottingham Forest ‘target’ Nahki Wells, and says a decision will be taken on his future next week.

Wells has been in fine form for QPR during his loan spell this season, and scored his 15th goal in Friday night’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup, having come off the bench.

Such has been the 29-year-old’s form for Mark Warburton’s Rs this term, interest has been sparked in Wells with Burnley receiving bids understood to be from Forest and Bristol City, both keen to strengthen their attacking ranks this month.

Dyche is acutely aware of the interest in Wells and with the Bermudian out of contract in the summer, says a decision will be made ahead of Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

"Nahki is doing very well, we have the ability to get him back here,” said Dyche. “I have spoken to Mark Warburton and let him know the different options.

"There is, over the last few days, a lot of interest in him and rightly so as he is scoring goals in the Championship.

"He knows he is well thought of here but he wanted football and needed football and that is working well for him so we will make a decision on that.

"He wanted to play football and we wanted him playing football because we didn't think he would get as much here but equally that doesn't mean we don't think he is a good player.

"He is showing that by playing there and scoring goals and Mark Warburton knows the picture and I have spoken to him.

"He knows there is interest in Nahki but equally he knows he is doing well there as do we.

"We will make a decision as it unrolls next week."
