Burnley remain keen on Everton defender as club await offer ahead of deadline

Burnley remain interested in signing Jonjoe Kenny before transfer deadline day with the belief a deal can be done before the cut off.

But it is understood that Everton are yet to receive a firm offer from the Turf Moor side who have a long-held interest in the right-back.

Kenny was part of the Blues' squad which faced Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Sunday and he came off the bench for the final 14 minutes.

The 23-year-old is likely to be named in Carlo Ancelotti's matchday squad for tomorrow night's game with Leicester City at Goodison but beyond that his future looks uncertain.

Burnley have until 11pm on Monday to strike a deal with Everton over the former England youth international and there remains confidence that an agreement can be reached in time.

Everton have been in the market for a new right-back for some time and will try and find the long-term successor for Seamus Coleman in the summer.

Kenny, who spent last season impressing at Schalke, was hoping to return to his boyhood club this season and be pushing for more regular game-time but has fallen further down the pecking order under Ancelotti.

When asked about the futures of Kenny and Cenk Tosun, earlier today, the Everton boss said: "I don't know if they are talking with other teams. They are our players and we will see if they are talking with others.

“I'm not going to ask until they talk to me [about it] - and until now they didn't."
