Burnley refusing to pay £10m asking price for Bristol City star Josh Brownhill - reports

Burnley are reportedly reluctant to pay £10m for Josh Brownhill in January.

The Sun reported that the Clarets are not willing to meet Bristol City's asking price for the midfielder, especially due to the release clause in his contract that will activate in the summer.

There are a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Brownhill's future, but Burnley have been strongly linked with the midfielder this month.

Yet the report says that the Clarets have been quoted £10m for the player, and have stepped back from making an out-and-out offer due to being able to get him for around £7m in the summer - even if they face increased competition for his signature.

This does not completely rule out Burnley's interest in Brownhill this month, however, with the Robins still keen on Clarets strikers Nahki Wells and Matej Vydra.

The same report in the Sun claim that Burnley have put a £7m valuation on Wells after recalling him from his loan at QPR.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is said to be open to a part-exchange deal with the Robins for Brownhill, which could well factor into the ongoing negotiations over the trio of players.
