Burnley defender Ben Mee issues warning to Manchester United ahead of fixture

Burnley captain Ben Mee has issued a warning to Manchester United ahead of tonight's meeting between the two sides.

The Clarets are set to return to action at Old Trafford this evening after almost three weeks without a competitive game due to Covid-enforced postponements.

After recording just one win from their opening 15 Premier League fixtures, Mee's side will be looking to earmark a colossal victory over United, which would see the team climb out of the relegation zone.

As for Ralf Rangnick's side, despite an unbeaten start to his tenure as interim manager, United were poor in their recent 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday night.

A win for the Reds' tonight could see them go fifth in the table, with a game in hand following their recent Covid-related lay off earlier this month.

Mee spoke to Burnley's official club website and confidently spoke about his team's chances to kick on following a difficult period.

“It’s been frustrating for all of us, for everyone involved and for the fans as well, especially at this time of year,'' began the former City defender.

“We were prepared for all of them games, obviously late notice for the first couple, but for Boxing Day there was a bit more notice.

“Our squad is in a good place at the minute, so we were slightly disappointed in those games getting called off.

“We’re confident, we’ll look to go there and disrupt them and get at them for sure.

“There’s some world class players there, they’re a good side and can be very dangerous.

“But there’s a chance for us to go there and get something and begin climbing up the table.”
