Burnley defender Ben Gibson speaks out amid Nottingham Forest rumours

Burnley defender Ben Gibson says he is keen to leave Turf Moor amid speculation linking him with a switch to Nottingham Forest.

With the Clarets eager to sign Joe Worrall, Gibson would reportedly part of the offer as they look to tempt the Reds' centre-back to the north west.

An offer of £4m plus Gibson is what the Clarets are prepared to pay and it has been reported that Worrall will only move if he is guaranteed a place in the starting 11.

As Forest fans await to see what happens next, Gibson told BBC Boro podcast that he is eager to find a new club.

"It’s probably no secret that I want to get out and play football and have been itching to do so since I signed for Burnley,” Gibson says.

“I’ll have to see what the next few weeks bring. Obviously I want to play football, that’s clear as day, but for now I just sit tight and see what happens.”

Middlesbrough have been credited with an interest in Gibson with boss Neil Warnock an admirer and there has been talk of a loan deal.

But it is understood that Burnley want Gibson to depart permanently.

The 27-year-old cannot break into the team under boss Sean Dyche just three years after he won a call-up to the England squad.

Ben Mee, James Tarkowski and Kevin Long are all in front of him at Turf Moor.
