Burnley Football Club have confirmed that the owners remain in talks over a takeover of the Turf Moor club.
The Premier League side were reported to have been in talks with Egyptian businessman Mohamed El Kashashy earlier this season, with an American consortium ALK Capital also named as potential suitors.
First-team manager Sean Dyche had explained he had no knowledge of the situation at the time and was focusing on results on the pitch - which have been poor, with Burnley picking up a goalless draw at the weekend to remain winless this season.
Now the Clarets have moved to confirm they remain in discussions with potential buyers, releasing a short statement on their club website. The full statement reads:
"Regarding various comments in the media, Burnley Football Club confirms that the club’s ownership remain in discussions with interested parties regarding future investment in the club.
"In full respect of ongoing processes, the club will not be providing any further commentary on this matter until those discussions have reached a conclusion.
“The club wishes to assure supporters and the local community that the future of Burnley Football Club remains the primary concern in these issues, with any potential investment needing to support the club’s long term sustainability and retain its position as a cornerstone of the local community.”
So far this season the Clarets have managed just two draws from seven games, with only three goals scored.
They remain in 19th place in the table over the international break, with upcoming fixtures against Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Everton and Arsenal.
