Burnley boss Sean Dyche sends a message to Jose Mourinho's critics ahead of Tottenham clash

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has issued his support to Jose Mourinho with the Tottenham boss facing criticism in recent weeks.

Spurs have won just one in their last six Premier League games, which has seen them fall down to ninth-place in the table - nine points adrift of fourth.

Mourinho has received plenty of criticism for this, with Spurs, at one stage of the season, being tipped to challenge for the title.

However, Dyche has backed the former Manchester United and Chelsea boss to turn things around in north London.

The Clarets manager has insisted there will "never be a lack of respect" from himself to Mourinho.

Football Digest: Does Jose Mourinho finally trust Gareth Bale at Tottenham?

"Jose has his fair share of people that question whatever he does at varying clubs," Dyche said.

"I'm still relatively young, I'm coming up to 10 years in management, but my point is that these guys have been around doing amazing things for teams at amazing levels, so there's nothing but respect from me for those guys.

"It normally goes out of the window from when the whistle blows until the game stops, but I have a lot of respect for these people.

"There are managers in the Premier League that have done amazing things in the world of football, there'll never be a lack of respect from me."

Mourinho's side welcome Burnley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon as they look to keep tabs with the top four.

The Clarets' away record against Spurs in recent times has not been the best, with the London-based side winning five of their last six meetings in the capital.

In fact, Burnley have won just two out of their last 13 Premier League games against Spurs.

Gareth Bale could start for Spurs, with the on-loan star impressing in recent games.

Bale was rested in Tottenham's Europa League victory just three days ago, with that perhaps an indication we could see him against Burnley today.

Serge Aurier could return for the hosts after missing the last five games, but Giovani Lo Celso will be unavailable to Mourinho.

As for the visitors, Ashley Barnes is expected to miss out, but Robbie Brady is set to return to Dyche's side.

Erik Pieters, Chris Wood and Dale Stephens will all face late fitness tests ahead of the clash in north London.
