Burnley manager Sean Dyche has revealed that Connor Roberts has been hospitalised due to an infection.
Wales defender Roberts' fiancée Georgina Marcella posted on Twitter and Instagram that the former Swansea City star had been admitted to hospital with a non-Covid-related illness over the weekend.
Georgina wrote: "By ur side through anything.
"I love u x - seen a bit of speculation on twitter, connor is very very poorly but it isn’t covid (yes other illnesses still exist). He will be in hospital for a little while, but I wheeled him in and I hope to be walking him out asap."
She accompanied her message with a photo of her holding Roberts' hand.
Dyche had said in the week that Roberts was suffering with a bug that had "knocked him down".
And speaking after his side's 0-0 draw with West Ham on Sunday, the boss said he had been in touch with the right-back this morning.
"He had an infection and it was a bit serious so they had to make sure it was dealt with," he told LancsLive when asked about Roberts' condition.
"I text him this morning and he said he was feeling a bit easier so hopefully that improves."
