Burnley boss Sean Dyche gives update on Ali Koiki to Bristol Rovers transfer

Sean Dyche has confirmed that Ali Koiki is set to move on from Burnley, amid links with a transfer to Bristol Rovers.

The 21-year-old left-wing-back rejected a contract from Burnley, where he has spent four years as a youth player, in the summer.

He has been strongly linked with a move to League One, with Bristol Rovers, Charlton Athletic and Sunderland all among the potential suitors for the youngster.

But Dyche has said that a move to Bristol Rovers is "in the offing," speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Burnley's clash with West Bromwich Albion on Monday.

When asked about his future, Dyche confirmed that the youngster, who had a loan spell at Swindon Town in 2019, is to move on having turned down a new contract at Turf Moor.

It is understood that Koiki, who is a physical presence and a natural fit for Ben Garner's preferred 3-5-2 and 3-4-2-1 formations, was in talks with Charlton Athletic, while Sunderland were also reportedly keen on the player.

Bristol Rovers, like other EFL clubs, are hoping to complete their transfer business before the domestic transfer window deadline, which is at 5pm tomorrow (Friday).

Rovers currently sit 12th in League One after a 2-1 win away from home against Lincoln City last Saturday.

Garner's men face Burton Albion at home this weekend.
