There were ugly scenes at Turf Moor as Arsenal and Burnley supporters clashed following the full-time whistle.
The travelling Gunners fans were toasting their side’s 1-0 victory over the Clarets, earned by a superb Martin Odegaard free-kick.
But in images captured by Football.London those celebrations were marred as the two sets of fans rushed towards each other in the away stand.
Reports claim drinks were thrown between the two groups with stewards subsequently forced to intervene.
On the pitch, Arsenal were made to work hard for their second Premier League victory of the season.
After beating Norwich City last week, Mikel Arteta’s side picked up another narrow win which lifts them to 12th in the table.
Odegaard’s sumptuous first-half strike was the difference, with the Norwegian scoring his first goal since becoming a permanent Arsenal player.
The visitors had a host of chances in the first period and could have put the game out of sight if not for some profligate finishing.
Arsenal were then given a major fright just after the hour mark when Burnley were awarded a penalty for an adjudged foul by Aaron Ramsdale on Matej Vydra.
Ramsdale was forced to intervene when Ben White’s shoddy back pass put his own side at risk.
However, following a VAR check, it was clear that the Gunners ‘keeper made contact with the ball, with officials at Stockley Park correctly overruling the decision.
And despite some late pressure, Burnley were unable to find an equaliser as their search for a league win goes on.
The Clarets have now lost four of their five Premier League games this season and find themselves in the bottom three.
Speaking after his side’s victory, Arteta said: “Really hard fought victory in a place that is really tough to come and win. They do really well at what they do.
“We started really well, we had some big phases where we saw a lot of things I wanted as a team.”
He added: “You have to defend crosses and long balls and we did that really well. The commitment and the attitude that they showed throughout the game is the most pleasing thing for me.”
