- Jeremy Corbyn appeared on BBC’s Newsnight on Tuesday night. He did rather well, leading to raised eyebrows from the Spectator, who implied Emily Maitlis may have gone rather easy on him. You can see a quick-fire version of the interview below. Hat tip: michaelsylvain
- Continuing the Corbyn theme, City AM have an analysis of the Labour leadership contender’s plans for an alternative to the “northern powerhouse” HT: NoSuddenMovements
- Meanwhile, a Conservative MP has attempted to register to vote in Labour’s leadership election, but was blocked as part of the party’s vetting process.

Here’s the write-up of the tube strike aspect of Boris Johnson’s Today interview I mentioned earlier, from my colleagues Frances Perraudin and Gwyn Topham. The RMT have described the mayor’s plans for 24 hour running of the tube as a “rushed and botched vanity project”.
Meanwhile, Andy Burnham has tweeted his opposition to changes to Sunday trading laws:
Do we really want a society where shops open 24/7 & people get no time out with their families? I will oppose this > http://t.co/hfDSQJQW2u

Today, Boris Johnson has been talking on Radio 4’s Today programme, tackling questions on tonight’s tube strike in London, as well as the imminent closure of the London Youth Charity Kids Company.
Meanwhile, the Labour leadership contest continues, with Andy Burnham making a foray into Corbyn-esque territory by pledging to renationalise the railways if he were to become Labour prime minister.
