A woman is fighting for life in hospital after she sustained significant burns following a suspected dispute in Melbourne's west.

The 32-year-old was in the front yard of a home on Rivercoast Road at Werribee South when she was seriously burnt about 2am on Wednesday.

Detectives believe she was injured following a dispute.

The woman was flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with upper body injuries, Ambulance Victoria said.

Two others received minor injuries during the incident.

A 43-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, both from Werribee South, are assisting police with their inquiries.

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad are investigating the incident.

Police urged anyone with information to contact them.
