Burmese journalists must stay in jail

An appeal by two Burmese journalists against their three-year jail sentences was rejected earlier this week. Photojournalist U Thaung Sein and columnist Ko Moe Htun were sentenced in March this year for taking pictures and filming in the country's new capital, Pyinmana, having been found guilty of violating the Television and Video Act. The press freedom body, Reporters Without Borders, and the Burma Media Association condemned the decision, which was issued by the court without summoning any witnesses.
