Burlesque-inspired fitness class is helping local women build confidence

A West Lothian burlesque-inspired fitness class is helping local women shed their insecurities as well as excess weight.

Saltire Burlesque Academy helps ladies to strut their stuff at classes in Broxburn, Livingston, Mid Calder, Bathgate, Linlithgow and Armadale. Instructors Dawn Melrose and Karyn Hamilton aim to empower women, improve fitness and build confidence.

The classes are suitable for ladies no matter what size, shape or ability as routines are catered for everyone.

Routines run in four-week blocks and each class the routines are broken down into sections, so it doesn’t matter what week or day you start. Alana Miller from the group said: “The classes are friendly, welcoming, fun and overall amazing for confidence.

All the ladies that go to classes have one reason or another why they joined, mine was confident and self esteem and to say I have these now is an understatement.

"We are also going to be doing the Kilt Walk in September where we will walk as a group and raise funds for Neil’s Hugs.”
