Thai League 1 champions Buriram United suffered a 3-1 humiliating home loss to China's Beijing Guoan in the AFC Champions League last night.
In the other Group G game, South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors beat Urawa Red Diamonds 1-0 in Japan.
The setback at Chang Arena sent Buriram to the bottom of the group with three points after three games.
Jeonbuk are leaders with six points followed by Urawa and Beijing, who each have four points.
Buriram started yesterday's game in second place after a 3-0 loss at Urawa and a 1-0 home win against Jeonbuk.
But the Thunder Castle were tormented by Beijing's forwards with Congolese striker Cedric Bakambu netting three times.
Beijing, who finished fourth in the Chinese Super League last season, got off to a fast start as Bakambu opened his account after two minutes.
The home team regrouped and almost got an equaliser a few minutes later as Supachai Chaided saw his shot hit the post.
Both sides had scoring chances in a lively encounter but it was the visitors who were on target again.
In the 29th minute, Renato Augusto's cross perfectly found Bakambu, who comfortably sent the ball past Buriram goalkeeper Siwarak Tedsungnoen from close range.
In the second half, Buriram came close to scoring when a poor clearance by Beijing goalkeeper Zou Dehai allowed Supachai to shoot but the Thailand forward failed.
Bakambu completed his hat-trick in the 54th minute after Siwarak fumbled a shot. Pedro Junior got a late consolation goal for Buriram.
Both teams will meet again on April 24 in Beijing.
