Buriram eye ACL victory over Beijing

Buriram United forward Supachok Sarachart, left, in action against Chiang Rai.

Buriram United coach Bozidar Bandovic is confident of recording a victory over a Beijing Guoan side left "exhausted" by travelling in their AFC Champions League Group G battle tonight.

The defending Thai League 1 champions had been given the weekend off from the domestic tournament to let them prepare for the game with the team from the Chinese capital.

In their first two games, Buriram lost 3-0 at Urawa Reds of Japan and sealed a 1-0 home win over South Korea's Jeonbuk with Supachok Sarachart scoring the winner.

Bandovic is now looking for three more points from tonight's game.

"This is another important game for our team, and we have prepared the team very well like our all previous matches," said the Buriram coach whose men were held to a scoreless home draw by Chiang Rai United in Thai League 1 last Wednesday.

"We know the opponents are strong but in the past, we have shown that no matter it is a domestic league game or the Asian tournament, we just do our best.

"Playing with a strong team from China gives us the opportunity to prove ourselves, but it will be the small things on the pitch that will make the difference in this match.

"I believe in my team and we are prepared both mentally and physically for the challenge.

"We are not worried because we have been working hard and we have done our homework.

"We have studied our opponents. We have nothing to lose, so we are hoping to pick up three points from this game."

Beijing Guoan coach Roger Schmidt said: "Buriram is quite a distance from Beijing and the weather here is hot as well. The players are feeling exhausted.

"However, we are confident of posting a good result. So far we only have one point so it is important for us to win this game."

In the other Group G game, leaders Urawa host third-place Jeonbuk this evening.
