BURI RAM: The provincial airport reopened to all flights on Tuesday after being closed on Monday morning when the runway was blocked by a stalled NokAir plane with an oil leak.

The plane was moved from the runway to a parking bay for repairs about 7.30pm on Monday.

Airport director Sommai Chainit said the aircraft, a twin engined jet prop, had developed a hyraulic leak while on the runway prior to take off.

Nok Air flight DD9603, the first flight out of the day, was left parked in the middle of the runway.

The flight was due to depart at 7.40am and arrive at Don Mueang airport at 8.40am.

All other scheduled domestic flights were prevented from using the airport and were diverted to neighbouring Roi Et province, as well as a charter flight from China.

Shuttle buses and vans were provided to carry passengers to and from Roi Et.
