They also admitted an attempted burglary at a property, on Langdale Road, Wavertree, on the same date.
The pair threw a brick through an upstairs window in an attempt to get into the house.
Khan was sentenced to three years and Osu was sentenced to three years, three months, on Friday, January 14.
Detective inspector Tony O’Brien from Operation Castle said: "We know the impact that the actions of burglars can cause for the people of Merseyside, whether young students or elderly people.
"To interrupt or be aware that people have invaded your house is an awful experience to go through, and we are determined to keep reducing offences and the harm this causes across Merseyside.
"I am pleased that Khan and Osu will now spend time behind bars for their actions and I would continue to encourage people to reports any suspicious behaviour so we can take action.
"Our commitment and momentum in catching burglary offenders and putting them before the courts will not cease, so keep coming forward and we’ll do the rest.
