Burglars steal cash from ATMs, vending machines at South Side businesses: police

Police are warning South Side business owners of a pair of burglaries reported this month in Englewood and Back of the Yards.

In each case, the suspects made their way into a store and took money from an ATM, a vending machine and a cash register, Chicago police said in an alert. They damaged a security camera in one case.

A burglary happened between 9 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5:30 a.m. Jan. 6 in the 1600 block of West Garfield Boulevard, police said. Another took place at 6 a.m. Jan. 6 in the 5600 block of South Ashland Avenue.

A description of any suspects was not immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
