Police are warning business owners on the Near North Side of a pair of recent restaurant burglaries connected to a string of similar incidents over the last couple of months.

In each case, someone forced their way into the front door of restaurants using a “pry tool” and stole property from inside, Chicago police said in a community alert.

The latest burglaries happened in the afternoon Feb. 12 in the 200 block of West North Ave and Sunday morning in the 200 block of East Ohio Street, police said.

Police previously warned business owners of six similar burglaries, the earliest of which was reported Dec. 26, 2019, in the 400 block of North Dearborn Street.

The suspect was described as a 45 to 60-year-old man standing between 6 feet and 6-foot-3, weighing 185-200 pounds and wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
