Burglars hit Near West Side, West Town businesses

Police are warning businesses about a series of burglaries this week in West Town and the Near West Side.

In each case, someone broke glass doors or windows to enter businesses in the early morning or overnight hours, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The break-ins occurred:

  • About 12:25 a.m. March 2 in the 2300 block of West Madison Street;
  • About 5:20 a.m. March 2 in the 2300 block of West Madison; and
  • About 3:15 a.m. March 4 in the 2100 block of West Walnut Street.

The suspect was described as a male between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
