Elite Team GB athlete Eilish McColgan has revealed thieves broke into her Manchester home and stole priceless athletics medals and commemorative keepsakes from the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
The champion distance runner shared details of the burglary and the precious items stolen to a Didsbury Facebook group.
Eilish, 28, a European silver medallist over 5,000 metres who represented Team GB at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics, said thieves locked her dog in a lounge and left her East Didsbury home 'completely ransacked'.
The back door of her house was smashed in, she said, and 'the whole house destroyed'.
Branding the burglars 'horrible, horrible scum', The Scottish runner said her British Championship medals were taken alongside items of jewellery and a necklace she said was a Christmas gift from her mum, the former gold medallist and marathon runner Liz McColgan.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday night Dundee-born Eilish, who is believed to be competing abroad, wrote: "Never been so angry in my life.

"Just found out our house has been broken into and completely ransacked.
"Michael [her boyfriend] left at 8am this morning to join me in Stockholm for our races tomorrow.
"Michael's dad came over at 4pm to check on the dog to find the back door smashed and the whole house destroyed.
