Burglar uses Rudolph costume to help pull off 'shady scheme'

A woman has adopted an unusual disguise in order to get away with a burglary in Colorado, breaking into a business and stealing several items while wearing a giant plush reindeer head.

Police in Fort Collins, a city in the state's north, shared a video on Facebook on Sunday that showed the woman entering a business wearing a backpack and part of the Rudolph costume, shining a torch around the room and gathering several items into various bags.

The woman did remove the reindeer head at one point, but the video did not clearly show her face.

Fort Collins police shared a Christmas-themed poem along with the video, and asked members of the public to contact Crime Stoppers if they had any further information that could help identify the thief.

"Rudolph the Red Nosed Burglar, had a very shady scheme. And if you saw the video, it would want to make you scream," it began.

By Christmas Eve, police said they had received an overwhelming response to the post but were still looking for the culprit.
