Burglar stole bank cards and car key from Bristol flat in middle of the night

A man has been jailed for more than four years after admitting burgling a Bristol flat in the middle of the night.

Matthew Woodland, of no fixed abode, admitted fraud offences, driving while disqualified and burglary.

The 34-year-old was sentenced to 50 months in jail at Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday (November 26).

Woodland stole bank guards from a Cotham flat on July 2 and admitted three counts of fraud which happened the same day.

Keys were also taken for a grey Mazda 3, with a registration of WO19 KWW - the vehicle has not yet been recovered.

He was arrested the following day following CCTV enquiries.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "We take burglary very seriously and are committed to identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice.

"While we’re working hard to target offenders and reduce offences, we all have a part to play in keeping our homes safe by securing our property.
