Burglar given last chance to avoid jail after failing to carry out court orders

A burglar has been given a last chance to avoid jail after failing to carry out court orders.

Dawid Krupa was given a suspended prison sentence but had to do 150 hours community work.

Probation officers told a court that the 22-year-old had fallen behind with the schedule set when he was sentenced on August 23.

He missed two sessions and has managed just over 33 hours instead of being much nearer completing the order, .

District Judge Leo Pyle added 15 more hours as punishment for failing to comply with the order, which Krupa admitted.

The judge told him: "For breaking into somebody's house, you received a suspended prison sentence of 16 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

"You were required to do 150 hours work and were expected to work one day a week.

"The starting point is that I will activate that sentence and you go to prison for 16 weeks.

"You must make one day a week - in ifs, no buts - and I am not interested in excuses.

"If you don't do it, you will lose your liberty. Is that clear?"

Krupa nodded.

The court heard that problems arose when Krupa changed his full-time job. On occasions, he turned up for the probation work after completing a 12-hour shift.

Nicola Gray represented Krupa of Larwood Grove, Sherwood who was ordered to pay £50 costs of the probation service.

Miss Gray said: "He will continue to work the additional hours. There were problems in relations to changes in his employment."

No details were given of the burglary which brought Krupa to court.
